- Connect with the Playwrights Guild of Canada on behalf of the Theatre
- Liaise with the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the America for new scripts and opportunities
Literary Manager Feedback
- Provide one page script analysis (ask to see breakdown page for the Theatre)
- Clear any backlog of scripts
- Provide AD with breakdowns on forthcoming new scripts
- Read plays from the existing canon suitable for mandate and production
- Help AD by providing a sounding board for possible season compilations
One-on-one dramaturgy
- Meet with playwrights by phone, Skype or in person
- Provide feedback on first ideas, first drafts or final drafts
In-house Workshops
- Lead New Play Development half or full day sessions
- Create In depth discovery sessions with actors and/or director
Social media
- Blog about development in workshop or rehearsal on theatre site
- Provide posts for the theatre page/profile
Open Readings
- Work with actors on new plays which culminate in readings in front of an audience
- Facilitate live audience feedback
- Help generate written or electronic feedback
Season post or pre-show chats
- Facilitate audience interaction with playwrights at premieres
- Design audience feedback whether written or electronic, on scripts in the season
Production dramaturgy
- Providing research, context for one show in the season
- Connect with the whole team from designers to publicists
- Create rehearsal journal or notebook
- Help generate program notes
Casting assistance
- Provide support for the AD and/or guest directors in auditions, generals with casting
Specialty Programs
- Create play of the month clubs, tied in with programming
- Develop a series of noon time workshops on playwriting to appeal to the downtown audience
- Create, with an actor, an event that portrays unavailable playwrights for audience interaction
- Create other off site outreach and community programs for youth and seniors in the form of classes or talks
- Create potential New Play Contest for new works for production
- Adjudicate Playwright/Theatre Competition initiatives
